POETIC DESTINATION

The brush hits the surface

Like the needle hits the groove

The bristles sweep and move

Beautiful and perfect with each and every stroke

My conscious broke

As I awoke

And stumbled back into an artless society

These mindless drones scream of bigotry

While artists dream of symmetry

The writer dreams of poetry

And the poets dream of eternity

Eternity is just a glance past reality

Really, I just love to play

And dance amongst the stars

Far beyond the reach of heaven

I’m spitting philosophies in the form of a line

Whose time is past that of any man

Sound vibrates as speak

What’s told to me through weak communication

Conversations start with no more than a spark of intellect

Intellectually speaking

All it takes is the etch of a pencil

The scratch of a pen

Pens scratch black of blue

Their colors fading through

The words leak and spill

And leave a chill on conformity's spine

As it tries to find its next victim

We are all victim to the monstrosity

That is society

But I trip on self-doubt

And ask what it is all about

Answering back in my own inquire

I change my tone to inspire

The lack of faith in one's self

Is no more than packing emotions above the highest shelf

Above where longing fingers that are bruised and blistered

Cannot grasp the joy of free expression

With expressing the blessing of my father

My feet righten and my hopes brighten

I speak the words from my brain

From which forth they came

The lead from my pencil is used to stencil

What my mind tells

And as it spells the words into form

The sentence screams don’t conform

I scream don’t conform

My heart screams don’t conform

My soul is exploding

And with each eruption

I feel the sense of seduction

As it tickles my emotions

I can’t control them

I won’t control them

It would not make no sense

It would be against

All that I have shared

We’ve been spared the chance

To view more than just a glance

Beyond the point of normality

Normally you would say

Hey I’d rather stay

And be shelved away

Above where longing fingers can’t find me

I say be who you want to be

And if that’s what you choose to be

Let it be

Only you hold the key

To unlock your mind

With that we find the mind can reach behind stars

Repair the scars that have been placed

Upon the burden of our heavy shoulders

This emotion is like a heavy boulder

Placed in my path, blocking the road to enlightenment

I feel I’ve been placed here to enlighten men

I scribble philosophies so that thorn-covered frowns

May be turned into spiritual bliss

Not implying I’m being religious

But souls are searching

And mine has found poetry

Though spitting rambles into amble winds

That carries sound above ground and below

I see emotion sent through the devotion of sound

My heart flutters as I realize

Good or bad

I am a poet

My hands have grasped that joy of free expression

Blown the dust off

And used it with enjoyment

I place the needle on the groove

And with my headphones on

Slip into a poet’s eternity
