Vinnie Baggadonuts: Itís an honor to talk to you. Iíve been following J5 for as long as I can remember.
Nu-Mark: Pleasureís mine, man.
VB: Itís good to know youíre still able to do it, too.
NM: Itís fun to be doing it. Iím happy Iím still in the game.
VB: I was reading interviews you did about Blend Crafters [album Nu-Mark did with Pomo] when it came out. You toured the world for that album?
NM: Well, I didnít do a whole world tour. I did a light States tour, and a pretty light European tour. Oh, and Australia, too. But that was more of a fun project. It was something I did with my friend Pomo. Heís a guy Iíve been friends with for most of my life. So the album was basically me clearing my desktop and finally doing a project with one of my best friends. It wasnít for either of us to have a solo debut or anything like that.
NM: It was just a cool, fun project. But it started picking up steam, and the label was like, "We want you to tour, we want you to do press...." So we were like, "Uh... okay!"
NM: Iím glad we did it.
VB: Thatís got to be a pretty good position to be in: doing a project for fun, but having your label want to get behind it.
NM: Yeah, we had a good time doing it. When I used to come off tour with J5, Iíd go to Poís studio, or heíd come to my studio. We would play beats for each other. Thatís how the project developed. It was just my way to relax outside of J5. It was like, "Hey! Have you heard this record? Have you heard this beat?" It was just one of those sessions that came out of a lot of weed.
NM: So there it is.
VB: I didnít know that J5 ever stopped touring.
NM: Well put, dude.
VB: (laughs) And now you are going on tour with X-Clan. Thatís a name from my childhood!
NM: Yeah, well, itís really Brother J. Chali [2na] met with Brother J recently, and this just kinda came about. We had a hard time finding an opener for this tour. We were approached by a lot of groups, talked about bringing in a lot of groups, but there were no groups out right now that we were like, "We gotta tour with those dudes!" So Brother Jís name came up, and we were like, "Yeah! Letís rock it!"
VB: Thatís really cool.
NM: Yeah. And he is still super sharp.
